If you are like me, after each project is over you are left with a pile of scrap fabrics. Cute fabrics that you don’t want to throw away! I’m sure you have a color-coded nicely organized tupperware full of themĀ  – – or maybe just a big pile (I’ll get to them sooner or later!). Either way, dig through them for this fun project. They make a great gift for your friends or for yourself!

How to make Fabric Button Earrings

Supplies you will need:

Glue Gun
Earring backs (you can find these at any craft store)
Fabric scraps (small prints or solids are the best)
Fabric cover button kits (I like the 5/8″ size, but get what you like!)
Scissors

These kind of small prints work best:

1. Cut the fabric into circles (the back of the button package shows the size circle you want)

2. Remove the button hook from the button. It should come out pretty easy by squeezing it with pliers and twisting.

Before and after shots

3. Follow the steps for covering the buttons: Insert the fabric into the mold, then the button

Fold the fabric down into the mold.

Push the back of the button (the one you modified and removed the hook from) into the mold with the pusher (super technical term, I know!)

And voila! You have your button earrings almost done.

4. Glue the earring backs onto the button and let dry

And there you go! Easy, cute, and cheap. Make one for everyday of the week! But be careful…they are addicting.
