My sister-in-law is having her first baby and it is a girl. To celebrate the joys of baby girls, I decided to make her a few VERY girly onesies. I saw the idea on Pinterest (of course) and decided to try and replicate it on my own. It was very easy and I love the results!

You will need:

a baby onesie
a 1/4 yd or so of lace, the wider the better
fusible web

1. Lay out your onesie. Cut your fusible web to the width of your lace. Lay the fusible web on top of your onesie and trace the curves of your onesie on to it. Tip: I did not stretch my onesie out while doing this and I wish I would have a little…I think it would fit the baby more by more accurately showing what a little tummy will do when stretching out the fabric of the onesie.

2. Iron your fusible web on to the back of your lace.

3. Fold the top folds of your onesie back so you can iron your lace all the way up to the shoulder seams…or close to them at least.

4. Peel the back off your fusible web.

5. Lay your lace on to your onesie and get it positioned exactly where you want. With a cloth or paper in between the iron and the lace, iron your fusible web on to the onesie.

6. I then did a little zig-zag stitch all around the edge of the lace to help secure the lace. And voila! An adorable, easy, one-of-a-kind gift.

I also made her this little number, by hand-stitching the lace in place on another onesie.

Love it! If I only had friends that were pregnant (instead of menopause!).

It would be fun to put some rows of lace across the bum, then when she is wearing a cute dress noone will care if it flips up a little. In fact it would be a delightful surprise.
