For the stars you can really do any combination for the center squares, outer points, and backgrounds that you like as well as any order for the stars on the strip.

Here are the measurements for cutting your stars:

Background: cut (1) 5 3/4in square, (4) 2 1/2 in. squares

Points (Dark): (4) 3 1/4 in. squares

Center (light plaid): (1) 4 1/2 in. square

Your final flying geese unit should be squared up to 2 1/2 x 4 1/2
